This stand-alone story tells the story of Elli. She's come from Finland to America as a mail order bride for Nathan White. She's brought trouble with her, though. She suspects that the man who's responsible for her father's murder is after her, but she's not quite sure why. She dreams of settling down with her handsome new husband, but the danger is great and she thinks he just wants her to take care of his niece and that's it.This was a quick story - about 100 pages - and I liked it. With it being that short, the action moves fast and so does the relationship, almost too fast. Mention is made of characters from Butterfly Palace: people like Belle, Lily and Andrew are mentioned but not in such a way that the stories are dependent on each other.

Excellent and quick read. The story captures your attention from the start and is packed with suspense as well as romance. Very enjoyable
I love Colleen Coble's work. This story was sweet without being sappy. I like books that are clearly Christian, and her work is godly and enjoyable.

This is a sweet novella. I would have liked the characters more developed but it was a good read. The story moved quickly, leaving me wanting more. It is very well written.
Good little short read. Easy to pick up and read when you have only a few minutes or waiting for an appointment.
And enjoy this sweet romance with a mysterious twist. Is it something from Ellie's past...Or from something tied to the position management position Nathan had just acquired.You won't be disappointed!
Escaping a threat back home, Elli flees Finland hoping to find safety and a new life as a mail-order bride with her new husband, Nathan, but the trouble follows her, and she and Nathan most work as a team to sort it all out. Nice short story that continues with the characters from the Butterfly Palace. If you enjoyed that book, you'll like this story. This was originally intended to be the first book in the Love Across the Sea series about four mail-order brides . . . Is it still? Not sure, now that it has been modified to accompany the Butterfly Palace. More brides of The Baltic to come? We'll have to wait and see. Lovely novella!
